彼此彼此，我也感觉如此。本次奥运会的主题歌《我和你》确实充满人性的光辉，但其不足以表达我中华人民的。这次的主题歌太过柔和，像清明节放的，有点峨嵋派的路子，很像大陆大部分金庸武侠剧那么……惨不忍睹！而我中华因该是四射的！《永远的朋友》非常适合！既有柔又有刚，人性与同步进行，而《我和你》优雅的情调像欧亚风格交互（亚州的清静与欧洲的浪漫）而《永远的朋友》是全世界共有的！团结！1988年汉城奥运会的主题歌《手拉手》在第二天就红遍全世界，而我们的《我和你》却在比赛完后人快走完了时才放，之前大多数都是放《永远的朋友》。唉！这是本次奥运会文艺方面的唯一遗憾！

北京奥运会歌曲《永远的朋友》（Forever friends）

演唱：孙楠 张惠妹

这首歌曲以强劲的旋律以及感人的歌词获得极高的传唱度，比肩1988年汉城奥运会主题曲《手拉手》。而且融入众多中国元素，中国经典民歌《浏阳河》的旋律更是在本歌曲中重复4次之多。从中不难发现作曲者的良苦用心，“这首歌曲本身就具有很强的中国风韵，就像我们这次奥运会的会徽一样，有着不可磨灭的中国民族特色在内。”孔祥东说到。

英文版于2007年8月8日《北京奥运会倒计时365天》时第一次在天安门广场唱响，并在同年11月29日正式发布。

中文版在2008年1月1日《央视元旦晚会综艺盛典》上第一次由韩雪和孙楠演唱。

中英文正式版于2008年4月30日《北京奥运会倒计时100天》时正式发布，并确定了最终的两名演唱者。
